The Department of Environment, Management and Agriculture (DEMA) initiated its Household Biogas Digester System project last year contributing to the initiative of living environmentally sustainable in Nauru.
DEMA is continually promoting the use of Home Bio Gas in the communities within households to assist in producing natural gas for household use.
The Department of Environment, Management and Agriculture (DEMA) in collaboration with the Government of Nauru and the Government of Israel has initiated the use of the Household Biogas Digester System within the communities amongst local famers.
The project is beneficial and resourceful in providing natural gas for households use by using natural resources such as livestock waste and left-over kitchen food scraps.
Another beneficial factor of the project is that it is not hooked up to electricity but rather natural solar energy or direct sunlight and the use of excess water waste as liquid fertilizer.
Installation of the Biogas Digester System is easy and takes up to at least 3 weeks of process before the system is ready to use. Resources required to operate the system are also provided by DEMA at their Anabar farm.
The project is an ongoing initiative to allow households in Nauru access to natural biogas in saying so DEMA is expecting a consultant to assist in finding donor funds to provide more of the Household Biogas Digester System.
DEMA Agriculture Project Manager Mrs. Lucy Duburiya is promoting to the general public the use of the Household Biogas Digester System in contribution to living environmentally sustainable.
